How to look like Audrey Hepburn
Isn't Audrey Hepburn the most beautiful, classic woman?
I used to be obsessed with her growing up. I thought she was so beautiful and graceful, and her fashion was SO stunning. One of my favorite movies she was in was Funny Face because of all of the fashion pieces she wore. And she wore them with aplomb. Audrey Hepburn is also incredible because she survived the German occupation of Holland in World War II and worked with the resistance despite her parents both being Nazi sympathizers. She then spent her later years working with UNICEF, an organization that provided relief to mothers and children that were in countries devastated by World War II.
This week happens to be Purim, a holiday celebrating the Jewish people's triumph over the evil plans of Haman and King Achashveirosh. Esther, a religious woman, was brought to the king's palace along with all the other women of eligible age, and was chosen to be the king's wife. She then took her life in her hands to approach the king and beg for her people's lives. The story is incredible - if you have the chance, read up on it. You won't be sorry.
On Purim, we dress up in costumes and celebrate with gifts, meals, and wine. So I thought, if I'm going to dress up in a costume, why not dress up as one of the most classic women of our era? And you can't deny the parallels with Esther - two beautiful, classic women who overcame struggles and fought for the lives of innocent people.
So watch my makeup tutorial and check out the look I came up with! I also think that this look, in a more toned down version, could be worn normally, which is pretty cool!
